A Corrosion Inhibitor is a chemical compound that slows down or stops the corrosion (normally rusting) of the metallic parts of a well or drill.
In general, a typically effective corrosion inhibitor will provide 95% protection at a concentration of 80 ppm and 90% at a concentration of 40 ppm. One of the methods in which the inhibitor can work is the creation of a passivation layer – that is a thin layer or film on the surface of the material that acts as a barrier between the corrosive substance and the metal.
In the oil industry, Corrosion Inhibitors are designed to protect against water, both fresh and brine, biological deposits, carbon dioxide (anaerobic corrosion), hydrogen sulfide and other organic acids associated with drilling in all oil-field types.
ACUROCOR DP is a specially formulated Corrosion Inhibitor for Glycol additives designed to prevent corrosion in multi-ways. It treats the surfaces of the metal making them less susceptible to corrosion. It buffers the organic acids formed as a result of glycol oxidation. Inhibited glycol based heat transfer fluids provides corrosion protection without reducing system’s heat transfer efficiency.Glycol oxidizes when exposed to air and heat. When this occurs, organic acids are formed. If not properly inhibited, this fluid is very corrosive. AcuroCor DP is added to Glycol to act as buffers, preventing low pH attack on the system metals. AcuroCor DP also passivates the metal surfaces protecting them from corrosion.
ACUROCOR ACI is an excellent Corrosion Inhibitor for Nitric Acid, and a number of other cleaning agents, such as sulfuric, hydrochloric, acetic, hydrofluoric, sulfamic, and citric acids, as well as combinations such as citric- ammonium bifluoride, hydroxy acetic-formic, ammoniated citric, and ammoniated EDTA, and can be used with various metals and alloys. Acuro Cor ACI decreases the corrosion rate of various cleaning agents in most common alloys to less than 1 mm/year. Acuro Cor ACI provides excellent inhibition of hydrogen permeation and corrosion acceleration.

ACUROCOR S20 is a powdered sulfamic acid blend with Corrosion Inhibitor for Sulphamic Acid and wetting agents designed for cleaning heat transfer surfaces. ACUROCOR S20 is used as a descaler for either boiler water, cooling water or heat exchange systems. ACUROCOR S20 can be used to clean a cooling water system while in operation or the condenser can be isolated. Optimum results are obtained when boiler water is heated to 120-150° F for on-line cleaning.
